I’m back from maternity leave this week, it’s time for me to get things moving at Curteis Webb.
It’s been a crazy few years since I had my son in 2019, I returned to work after my maternity leave in the January of 2020 only for COVID to take hold in the March. Whilst the world sorted out what work/hiring/childcare looked like I spent the time with my son. We moved house the following year, which took much longer than we anticipated and I finally got back to work in April 2021….already pregnant with my daughter. Now she is six months old, and (definitely) the last of my brood, I am ready to get back to work.
The last few weeks have had me contemplating what Curteis Webb is, what I want it to be and of course, how I get it there. I have an enormous to do list, so much has changed over the last 3 years, for me, for the world of work, for everyone in it. I’ve found myself getting lost in the haze of the bigger picture of what my clients and candidates need, what the business looks like as a result, what I need, what my family needs. I don’t have all the answers just yet but I know what I need to do for now. As my dad would say… “just offer it up”. Just make a start. In my 1st recruitment job my manager once said to me “all you need to focus on right now is where your next interview is coming from” and it stuck with me. I refer back to it whenever I’m getting lost in the haze of a million jobs, it helps focus on the task in hand. The rest will fall into place over time.
I’m looking forward to the Curteis Webb future, to regaining that sense of pride in a job well done. To working with people and companies I believe in, introducing people to teams that fit with their goals and motivations. To seeing people happy and successful, myself included. Here’s to “offering it up”….but coffee first!
